No. 93 Duke Street Kingston.
This neat two-storied home, sometimes referred to as the "Sharples House", appears to have been designed to create an illusion when viewed from the front. With its smooth walls, elegant columns and decorative mouldings, one gets the feeling of a solid brick house, however the remaining outer wall were all wooden and shingle clad. Other unusual features were the shortened height of the ground to the first floor, and the use of split Demerara Shutters that were hinged along the vertical rather than along the top horizontal edges as seen on the "Bauxite House" next to it. |
